March : Plant Life Cycles and Population Sizes



You have probably already planned your garden and visited March early, as suggested on the winter sheets.

So, from how many plants should you save, to maintain genetic diversity ?


Sometimes quite many ! But this is something I love especially about seed saving:
that it connects us to each other  and sharing ( surplus ).





And the ideal plant to start to save seeds from, partly because it grows so quickly, partly because it tolerates to save from very few plants, is ...lettuce !




Ideally, you enjoy to take notes about your plants. Admittedly, a computer file is most practical, but cards can be more fun :)
